A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is a treatment system used to clean wastewater/sewage generated from homes, apartments, hotels, hospitals, offices, schools, industries’ domestic areas, etc. Main purpose of an STP It removes: BOD – Biochemical Oxygen Demand COD – Chemical Oxygen Demand TSS – Total Suspended Solids Organic matter Pathogens and microorganisms Other impurities Typical STP process Inlet Sewage → Screening → Grit Removal → Equalization → Biological Treatment → Secondary Clarifier → Filtration → Disinfection → Treated Water The treated water can be used for gardening, toilet flushing, cooling or other permitted non-potable applications, depending on the required quality.
